Go In Blind!

Moment of vulnerability: God has been pushing me to go blind and I have only in this moment realised that, or at least become absolutely sure of it.

My year has not turned out the way I envisioned. There were certain things on my list I just knew I would be checking off in the first half of the year. Instead, God threw a wrench in my plans. At first I was confused, then I was in denial, then I was defeated and angry, and then I was wounded and humble. It was at that point that I truly surrendered to God and was ready to follow his lead.
We often pray and say “Lord, let your will be done” but turn around and get upset when he answers in the affirmative to our request. That’s a whole other sermon for another day. Today, my focus is on “Going In Blind”.

If you’re reading this, you’re obviously not blind. Could you take a moment to pretend to be blind though? Close your eyes and try to navigate your current space. Recipe for disaster, isn’t it?
Perhaps that’s why people who are blind usually have a guide leading them. If you’re going to go in blind, you’re going to need a guide. Stay with me.

Let’s talk about Saul, who later became Paul. Saul was a known persecutor of the disciples of Jesus- all people who were following “The Way” as the TPT version puts it in Acts 9:2. He was marching into Damascus when he encountered Jesus- a moment which changed his life, name, and destiny. Now Saul is given a new mission except he doesn’t even know what it is. On top of that, he is now blind and needs help to get to Damascus.

For some of us, we are in a season in which God is asking us to “Go In Blind”. He is telling us to trust him. When you can’t see what he planned for you, or what he is doing in your life, it can be extremely frustrating but he is asking you to put your hand in his and simply follow as he leads the way. You don’t need to know what the final stop is, neither do you need to know who, what, when, and where. You only need to slip your hand in his and yield to his tugging and pulling, trusting that where you are headed is where you need to be, and where you need to be is just perfect for you, and you will arrive at the right time.

GO. IN. BLIND.

We can learn this from Saul’s story:
1. God always gives an instruction to get you started. For Saul, he said “Now get up and go into the city, where you will be told what to do.”

2. Do not panic. God will always provide a way or avenue to help you. You haven’t got to figure anything out, just obey. He provides the means. God kept the eyes of Saul’s friends open so that they could help him fulfil God’s command which was “Go to Damascus”.

3. Your circle is important. Saul’s friends stayed with him all the way. They even took upon themselves the added burden of leading a blind man.

4. When God instructs you, act immediately! “Saul stood to his feet” – immediate action. Don’t waste time on panic and worry.

GO IN BLIND, and GO NOW!
